Minh + Hanh (Melbourne Museum, Melbourne, Victoria Australia) – Super Dinosaur Sized Wedding Extravaganza!!

Minh + Hanh Wedding Day

I don’t often get to shoot friends weddings.. Mostly cause I’m old and most of my friends are married.  So when I get the opportunity to do so.. Its great fun because I get to capture their special day and they allow me to be part of the festivities.  I have known Minh since I was 13 years old.  Recently he finally got married.  He took his time… but when he did.. boy did he go all out.  So big was his wedding that we had to split up into two teams.  One unit going to an apartment at Crown to capture Hanh and her bridesmaids while the rest of us going to Minh’s house to capture his attempts at getting ready.

Then we got in our cars and made our way to the brides house in Geelong!  Where we waited for Minh to arrive and the festivities to begin.  As you can see from the photos.. the girls didn’t make it easy for Minh but he finally got his bride!  We then travelled to St Brendan’s Church for the formal ceremony before settling into the festivities of the night at Melbourne Museum, where family and friends celebrated the newly married couple and danced the night away!

We would like to thank Minh and Hanh for allowing us to capture their wonderful day and wish them nothing but happiness and love for the future!

Chelsea + Nathan (Elmswood Estate, Yarra Valley, Victoria Australia) – Something New, Something Blue, Something that goes Woof?!?

Chelsea + Nathan Wedding

From the moment I met Nathan and Chelsea, I thought that shooting their wedding was going to be a whole lot of fun.  Both were very easy going, how could this not be a great wedding?  I was not wrong!  Early morning, Jason, Tyler and I made our way to the bride’s house where Chelsea, Brooke, Annika and Laura were well on their way to looking fabulous.  Their house was adorned with many photos and memories as well as tennis rackets.  (Important if you knew how this couple met!)  We took photos of the girls before making our way to the Grooms house.  But not before Chelsea wrote a little note for Nathan and sent it via four legged express!

We got to the grooms house at lunch and were offered a wide variety of pizzas.  (I told you they were easy going)  Then Nathan received his note from his furry messenger Woody, whom in return got carrots (he loves them) and we started our photos of the groom!  On a romantic side note.  Nathan had also fashioned a box which would lock their commitment rings and letters so they could open and read them in the future.  (Did I also mention that he was also romantic?)

The reception itself was held at Elmswood Estate where we were greeted by the blazing midday sun!  Lucky for us, the couple got married in the shade of an outdoor verandah before making their way indoors for food and speeches.  Then as the sun set.. the newlyweds and their guests ate and danced the night away.

Also, if you were a guest at the wedding and want your photo booth photos.  You can find them here.  AND don’t forget to like us on Facebook!

Destination Wedding: Ryan + Janis (The Fig Tree. Byron Bay, New South Wales) –

Ryan + Janis Wedding

IMG_5246-Edit-2 copy

Ryan and Janis contacted us about shooting their wedding in Byron Bay, NSW.  I had never been to Byron Bay but Jason (Our second photographer) knew the area quite well.  For us.. weddings are normally big productions with many guests.  But this wedding instead was a small intimate affair with just a few friends and family members.  So, on a quiet monday night, Jason and I boarded a plane for Coolangatta QLD.  Then we hopped in our rental car and made our way to Byron Bay, which was just over the NSW / QLD border.

The morning of the wedding.. started out differently then usual.  We went to the beach with the groom Ryan and his and his brother for a morning swim and a quite moment before the days festivities kicked off.  The setting for the wedding was the Fig Tree.  It was the ideal location for an intimate affair, quiet, secluded but with amazing views.  By the afternoon, guests had arrived and we along with family and friends witnessed Janis and Ryan pledge their love and commitment to one another in the cool shade of the Fig Tree.

Once formalities were complete.. Everyone packed the dining hall were we ate a delicious banquet and then danced the night away.

Thanks to Ryan and Janis for allowing us to be part of their special day and we wish them nothing but happiness that lasts them to the end of their days.

Sarah + Rob (Sketch Docklands, Melbourne, Victoria Australia) – Dancing the Night Away!

Sarah + Rob Wedding

We were lucky enough to photograph Sarah and Rob’s wedding.  The weather was good and everyone was dancing to their hearts content.  We arrived at the Robs place in the early morning to the fanfare from a 4 piece band.  As they played their melodic tunes.. we slipped inside to take photos of Rob and his groomsman Stephen (Who also happened to be Sarah’s Brother).

For the morning session, we took inspiration from two famous movies while taking the groom and groomsman photos.. Can you guess what it was?

Then we made our way to the brides house where family and friends were on hand to help Sarah prepare for her special day!  As you can see.. with all hands on deck, the bride was stunning!

The Church ceremony was held at St Dominic’s Parish in Camberwell.  Family and friends were there to witness the exchanging of vows.  The union was also symbolised by the lighting of a candle so that their love would never extinguish!  It was truly a touching affair.

After a quick break!  It was off to Sketch Reception in the docklands where everyone danced the night away!   We must say, we have never photographed a wedding where there was so much dancing.  It almost seemed like there was a dance off!  At the end of the night, the Groomsman Stephen managed to catch the garter while his partner, Rebecca managed to catch the bouquet!  I guess there will be a wedding soon with that much luck on their side, it almost seemed like fate.  (Or it could be because Stephen busted through a pack to take the catch) No pressure guys!

In the end, we had a great time capturing Sarah and Rob’s special day and we wish them nothing but happiness in their long future together!

Peninsula C (Docklands, Victoria Australia) – Jasmine + Sok’s Big Wedding Extravaganza!

Jasmine + Sok Wedding

Recently we were given the opportunity to shoot Jasmine and Sok’s wedding.  It was a great summers day and we arrived quite early to capture the morning preparations..  From the onset we could tell that this was going to be a fun day as both the bridal party and the groomsmen were in a festive mood!  I guess it is fitting as it was our first wedding for this year and why not start one off with a bang!

We started the day visiting Sok and his groomsmen Rithy, Kosal, Judah and Phalla at their apartment in the docklands, where they had an awesome view. After they quickly dressed we took some photos around the hotel.  The boys giving me their best boy band impressions.

The girls in the meantime were getting ready in the same building on a lower level. (Guess it truly was the last time Sok had the upper hand)  Jasmine and her bridesmaids, Rosie, Prilly, Trinh and Emmy were in the midst of getting their hair and make up done by Dannii when we arrived for photos.

The colour of the day definitely was teal as both the bridesmaids wore teal dresses and the groomsmen wore teal handkerchiefs.  There was even teal balloons!

Once everyone was ready.. we made our way to Peninsula C where the wedding ceremony was held.  It was an intimate ceremony with just family and friends, little did we know the big party that was going to be in store later on in the evening.  Once the ceremony was done, we all went outside where everyone was given a balloon and they were released into the sky to signify start of their new lives.

We all boarded the stretch hummer and travelled around town to take photos with the bridal party before making our way back to the reception where the Bride and Groom danced the night away with friends and family!

It was a great wedding and we at Moving Pixels would like to thank both Jasmine and Sok for allowing us to participate in their wonderful day.
